NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD may be closer to solving a 40-year-old case after officers on Tuesday recovered human remains inside a Queens yard.
"Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police developed information of possible human remains buried in the rear of 87-72 115th Street within the confines of the 102 Pct.," police said in a statement.
The statement contines, "On Tuesday, March 12th 2019 at approximately 1130 hours, police discovered human skeletal remains of an unidentified person buried at the location. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing."
WABC reported that the remains may be connected to a 40-year-old case.
The dig began after police received a tip Monday.
