NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- City officials announced Thursday, that starting next week, Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn will become largely buses and bikes only during weekdays.
Starting on Monday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. only vehicles making local deliveries or parking will be allowed between Livingston and Tillary streets.
According to MTA stats, Jay Street serves seven MTA bus routes that carry a total of 46,000 riders on a daily basis.
The busway will be the third in the city including Fulton Street Mall also in Downtown Brooklyn and the 14th Street busway in Manhattan.
Jay Street is one of four new busways announced by the city in June to be completed.
