NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein -- who was arrested for raping underage girls and for sex trafficking -- was found injured on the floor of his Manhattan cell Wednesday night.
The convicted pedophile is now on suicide watch.
Epstein, who is at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, had marks on his neck and was found semi-conscious.
He was medically evaluated and then returned to his cell at MCC, where he is being held without bail.
It is unclear how Epstein, 66, got the marks: Multiple sources told outlets that he may have been attacked by someone else, that he hurt himself to get transferred out of the facility or he was trying to hang himself.
A former Westchester police officer, Nicholas Tartaglione, who is convicted of killing four men and then burying their bodies in his backyard, is actually Epstein's cellmate, but is not believed to have played any role in what happened to him.
"They are in the same unit and doing well," Bruce Barket, an attorney for Tartaglione, told WNBC. "He said any claim that Tartaglione might have assaulted Epstein "is absolutely not true."
Attorneys for Epstein have not yet commented, and neither has the Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Marshals or U.S. Attorney's office.
