
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Joe Biden won the New York Democratic primary Tuesday night, according to the Associated Press, paving the way to his formal nomination at the DNC in August.
And Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who represents parts of Queens and the Bronx also won, defeating Michelle Caruso-Cabrera.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Ocasio-Cortez had 72.6 percent of the vote, while Caruso-Cabrera had 19.4 percent.
Meanwhile, veteran Rep. Eliot Engel, who has represented parts of the Bronx and Westchester for nearly 30 years, was trailing progressive challenger Jamaal Bowman.
With 92 percent of precincts reporting, Bowman had 60.9 percent of the vote and Engel had 35.6 percent.
Longtime Rep. Carolyn Maloney, who represents parts of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, was leading a tight race with Suraj Patel.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Maloney had 41.5 percent of the vote and Suraj Patel had 40 percent.
Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn, was leading progressive challenger Lindsey Boylan.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Nadler had 61.8 percent of the vote and Lindsey Boylan had 25.5 percent.
Longtime Rep. Yvette Clarke, who represents parts of Brooklyn, appeared to have defeated her challengers.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Clarke had 62.3 percent of the vote and Adem Bunkeddeko had 17.9 percent.
