The Mets expected fire sale has reportedly begun.
According to multiple reports, New York has dealt reliever A.J. Minter to the Twins for a pair of prospects, one of them being Bruin Agbayani, son of former Met Benny Agbayani.
Billy Amick is the other Minnesota prospect going back to Queens. The third baseman was with the Twins Double-A affiliate at the time of the trade.
Agbayani, 19, is a former sixth-round pick who has been limited in the minors since being drafted in 2025 due to injury.
Minter signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Mets prior to the 2025 season, but injuries derailed his tenure in New York. A lat injury early in his debut season required surgery and ended his season. He began the 2026 campaign late but is now pitching to a 2.35 ERA as he adjusts to life with a decreased velocity.
The anticipation is that the Mets will be shipping out more veterans before Monday’s deadline.
