NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds landed on Long Island Thursday to get ready for this weekend's air show at Jones Beach.
This 16th annual air show will take place Saturday and Sunday.

Newsday reports that pilots have been practicing for months maneuvers that allow them to fly super fast, super close together.
Air Force Major and Thunderbird pilot Whit Collins told Newsday, "A lot of times, people think that we might hit …but at the last minute, we maneuver out of the way.”

The U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute team will also perform alongside the headlining Thunderbirds, as well as the U.S. Navy FA-18 Super Hornet.
Performances are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
Admission is free, but spectators are advised to come early, as the show can draw hundreds of thousands of people and parking lots can fill up early.
