HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Ned Lamont on Thursday deployed the Connecticut National Guard to help with Tropical Storm Isaias recovery — a day after he declared a state of emergency amid widespread power outages.

National Guard members will help clean up roadways and restore power to Connecticut residents, Lamont said on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

“Right now, 4 route clearance teams are being deployed to support the removal of large debris blocking roadways,” he wrote. “Each team consists of 3 vehicles, including an excavator, and 7 personnel.”

“Connecticut Army and Air National Guard assets are being utilized to support these route clearance efforts,” he added. “As always, I appreciate their assistance to our state and our residents.”
