NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A white man attacked a 23-year-old Queens man at a 7-Eleven Saturday night, hurling anti-Asian slurs at him and going on a rant that included blaming Asians for coronavirus.

Sungmin Kwon was shopping for popcorn and orange juice inside a 7-Eleven on Northern Boulevard in Bayside when the man began to talk about COVID-19.

In a Facebook post, Kwon said the man "went on a disgusting racist rant against Asians, saying Asians are the cause for the pandemic, were filthy and don’t belong in this country."

When Kwon confronted the man, the man got upset, he said.

“I called him out on his bulls--t and he approached me,” Kwon wrote. “He tried to kick me while calling me a ‘g--k.’ That’s when I took my phone out and he begins to assault me.”

“He did push me to the ground but it didn’t hurt,” he said.

Kwon wanted to fight back, but “didn’t want to get arrested,” he added.

The Queens College student told the Daily News he reported the incident to the police. The outlet confirmed that the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
