NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for the attacker who beat a man to death during a fight on a Greenwich Village sidewalk Saturday, police said.
Officers responding to a 911 call found the 36-year-old man lying on the ground outside a bagel shop on Christopher Street, near Bleecker Street, around 4:20 a.m.
Police said the victim was involved in some sort of fight with another man, who pummeled him unconscious before taking off.
The victim was taken to Lenox Health Complex, where he was pronounced dead.
He was later identified as Dashawn Bush of Brooklyn. The medical examiner will determine what killed him.
The NYPD said an investigation is ongoing as it searches for the suspect.
