NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An MTA worker, who also worked as an auxiliary police officer, killed his sister-in-law and stabbed a building superintendent in Harlem Wednesday night before being shot by police, 1010 WINS has confirmed.
The incident began after the MTA worker's wife, her sister and the superintendent had their dinner interrupted by a knock on the door around 6:50 p.m.
The woman's sister, 45, answered the door and the attacker, 44, shot her and stabbed her in the head.
The man was wearing his MTA uniform and was licensed to carry a gun, according to The New York Times, citing a police official.
While the superintendent tried to intervene -- he was stabbed by tthe man -- the MTA worker's wife called 911.
Plainclothes officers soon arrived at 1 Saint Nicholas Terrace and saw the man stabbing the 39-year-old superintendent.
The attacker refused to respond to officers' orders and continued attacking the superintendent.
One of the officers then fired at the attacker, killing him. He was later identified as Ubaldo Gomez.
The superintendent was hospitalized in critical condition. He was in stable condition by Thursday morning.
