NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a man they said made off with $12,000 after using social media to scam a man in Brooklyn on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. near 12th Avenue and 61st Street in the Borough Park section after a 31-year-old man arranged via social media to purchase a car from an unidentified man.
Upon arrival to his residence, the victim allowed the man to count the money agreed upon for purchase, police said.
The victim became distracted and the man fled the location.
He entered a dark-colored Audi and fled in an unknown direction with the $12,000.
An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
