PISCATAWAY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A 17-year-old male was arrested Monday in connection with a sexual assault at a Rutgers University dorm on Sunday.
Officials did not identify the teen because he is a minor.
He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual contact and burglary.
Police said the suspect got into the Quad 2 dormitory and sexually assaulted a sleeping student.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on the Livingston College campus in Piscataway.
When the resident woke up, the man fled the room on foot, police say.
The victim was not hurt.
"It's pretty shocking. I can't really believe it because, usually, this is the first time I'm ever hearing this before, especially in the Quads because usually the doors have a really good lock on it," sophomore Liam McRae tells CBS2.
Campus police say the victim's dorm room was left unlocked.Police had described the suspect as an Hispanic or Indian man in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 with a thin build and black hair, and was wearing glasses, a pink shirt and jeans.Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Rutgers Police Department Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
