NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A 68-year-old woman was seriously injured after a robber shoved her off a subway platform in Manhattan this week, police said.
The woman was standing on the southbound L platform at the 14th Street/6th Avenue subway station in Chelsea shortly after 2 p.m. Monday when the stranger pushed her, causing her to roll off the platform and onto the track bed, police said.
As the woman fell off the platform, she dropped her phone, which the suspect grabbed before taking off, according to police.
The woman was not hit by a train, but she suffered multiple fractures to her torso from the fall, police said.
It's unclear how she was rescued from the track bed, but she was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
