NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was shot and killed as he sat in a BMW in Brooklyn on Saturday evening, police said, and three more men were killed Saturday into Sunday in other shootings.
The man, later identified as 33-year-old Arfan Butt, was in the BMW on 78th Street, near 12th Avenue, in Dyker Heights around 5:20 p.m. when he was shot, police said.
He was found lying on the ground next to the BMW with three gunshot wounds to the torso, police said. He was rushed to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Gus, who lives on the block, said people tried to save the victim after he was shot.
"There was a guy lying right next to a green BMW. There was two people working on him. There was actually a guy putting duct tape on his chest to stop any type of bleeding," he said. "He was talking a little bit at the beginning to the people who were working on him. Then you heard absolutely nothing."
Police said they're looking for possibly two suspects who escaped in a car.
Roseanne told 1010 WINS the shooting was another sign things are going downhill as the city deals with a spike in gun violence this summer.
"I've lived in Brooklyn all my life. I've never seen so much crime, so fast, in a few months. And it's just been a horrible thing," she said.
Shortly after the Dyker Heights shooting, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed at the Ingersoll Houses in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, around 6 p.m.
Police told the Daily News that the victim, identified as Wayne Lasontant, was found on the ground bleeding. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 35-year-old man was also killed in a shooting on 107th Avenue, near 164th Place, in Jamaica, Queens, around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.
Police said the 35-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the back. He was rushed to Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.
A 27-year-old man was also injured in the Jamaica shooting; police said he had a graze wound to the head and a gunshot wound to the leg. He was in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.
A fourth man, 27-year-old Ezequiel Rivera, was shot and killed around 9:15 a.m. Sunday near Bruckner Boulevard and Rosedale Avenue at the Monroe Houses in the Soundview section of the Bronx, police said.
Officers found Rivera with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital.
No arrests have been made in the deadly shootings.
The shootings came hours after two men were shot and killed minutes apart in the Bronx early Saturday morning.
Police said there were 12 shootings with 14 people shot on Saturday alone.
