NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The MTA launched express service on the F train Monday morning after about 20 years.
The train will make express trips from 7- 7:30 a.m. and between 5 - 5:40 p.m. between Church Avenue and Jay Street Metro-Tech stopping only at the 7th Avenue station.NYC Transit President Andy Byford and Brooklyn elected officials shared the line’s first express train Monday morning from the Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue terminal to Jay Street/MetroTech in Downtown Brooklyn.
In the 1970's, the MTA stopped running an express service F train, and with 26 stops, the F train runs along the longest stretch of track without an express option.
Elected officials say F train service is amongst the most unreliable after MTA revealed that only 63 percent of F trains ran on time in July.
