TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS/AP) -- New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy says a four-year, $120 million labor agreement with the biggest state worker's union in New Jersey has been reached. The Associated Press reports that on Thursday a deal that would cover approximately 32,000 state workers with the Communication Workers of America and the AFL-CIO was made. Under this deal, workers would get also 2 percent raises each year.The contract is still subject to worker ratification but would run from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2023.
The state would also save about $70 million in health benefits with this deal, says Governor Murphy. This is the second contract of the sort that Murphy has managed to broker with the CWA in New Jersey.
