NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Nassau police say they've made an arrest a day after identifying human remains found in a shallow grave in a Massapequa preserve.
The suspect is 22-year-old MS-13 gang member Stanley Gerson Juarez, and he's arrested for allegedly violently stabbing murder victim 18-year-old Bryan Lemus of Uniondale in Hempstead State Park last year.
"Today's charge, murder second, subdivision one, is an A1 felony, facing 25 years to life," said Patrick Ryder, Nassau County Police Department Commissioner, "I can't commend the homicide guys any more than I'md oing today because they went out and raked leaves, they dug holes, we had backhoes out there, we were going to find the remains, return them to the family and make sure this prosecution sticks."
Members of the gang killed about a dozen people in Nassau in 2016 and 2017 and investigators have repeated searched the preserve looking for traces of the victims.
