NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The United States has surpassed six million coronavirus cases, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Only three weeks ago, that figure was five million.
There have also been more than 183,000 virus-related deaths nationwide, as well.
The milestone comes as a a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that COVID-19 is now spreading at a faster rate in children and teenagers than among the general public. In late May, about 5 percent of the nation's cases were recorded in minors, the The New York Times reported. By Aug. 20, that number had risen to more than 9 percent.
Global cases of coronavirus also surpassed 25 million on Sunday. The actual number of cases is believed to be much higher.
