NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court has sworn in its first Black female justice.

Fabiana Pierre-Louis was sworn in during a private ceremony Tuesday afternoon, New Jersey’s court system said.

Gov. Phil Murphy attended the ceremony.

“Today, history was made,” he wrote on Twitter. “Thrilled to attend the swearing in of Fabiana Pierre-Louis to the New Jersey Supreme Court — the first Black woman to be seated on the state’s highest court.”

Pierre-Louis is “only the third Black member in the court’s history and its youngest current justice by about two decades,” NJ.com reported.
