NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New Year's Eve preparations continued Monday in Times Square. Crews were there to test the ball drop.
The balls' panels can display over 16 million colors and billions of light patterns.
Some of the special guests joining in on the magic are the Wash Heights Expeditionary Learning School & Bronx Latin School including teacher Jared Fox and students Ricardo Herrera and Daniel Soto.
They are being honored in recognition of original innovative ideas developed to address the climate crisis.
Student Daniel Soto is excited to push the button. "We're doing climate change and us being the faces of what might come to the future, Soto says, is really exciting."
Electrician Robert Stulz says he feels "a little nervous, to make sure we don't mess up the cables. There's a lot involved."
The ball was sent up the 130-foot pole atop One Times Square where as many as a million people will hit the streets in Times Square tomorrow to ring in the new year.
