NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A report from the pest control company Terminix says that New York is the worst city in the country for bedbugs, behind only Philadelphia.
That’s up from 7th in the country last year.
Terminix ranks the cities based on how often commercial bedbug services are provided.
“Bed bugs don’t discriminate, so, they can be, you know, in anyone’s home, in the most expesnive over hotels, Dr. Rick Cooper, of Terminex said, “Bed bugs are really only interested in one thing, that is to feed on the blood of humans. Humans are their primary host.”
There have been 1,178 bed bug violations in housing projects, hotels, and businesses in the city.
A Localize Labs reports found that the most violations in the city were in Flatbush, West Harlem and Morrisania.
Rival pest control company Orkin placed New York 8th on their last released in January.
