NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Mall at Short Hills has temporarily closed due to water main that broke midday Monday.
"Due to a water main break underneath the mall, we are temporarily closed," says a statement on the mall's website. "We are assessing the situation and hope to re-open today."
The water line, used for the mall's sprinkler system, ruptured around noon, according to NorthJersey.com. The mall was evacuated and the mall's power was shut off as a precaution.
"Out of an abundance of caution, and to safely assess the situation, power has been shut off and customers have been evacuated," a mall spokesperson told NorthJersey.com. "When the mall is ready to reopen, we will alert the community via our web page and social media."
