Man has fatal heart attack on NJ Transit train at Penn Station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- It was a tragic night for a NJ Transit passenger.

A man suffered an apparent heart attack Monday night while on a North Jersey coast line train at Penn Station.


A doctor went to the car after an announcement was made on the PA asking if a doctor was on board, NJ.com reported.

The train was loading passengers at Penn Station when the incident occured.

The man was identified as Alfred Wood, 63, of Middletown, according to Amtrak.

"At approximately 5:05 p.m. Monday, a conductor on board (North Jersey Coast Line) train 3363, which was loading customers at Track 7 at PSNY, was notified by a customer that a male customer in the third car did not feel well," NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said via email, NJ.com reported.

The train remained at the station until about 8 p.m.
