NJ police seize 40 lbs. cocaine, $119k in drug money

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police in Bergen County seized 40 pounds of cocaine and $119,000 in suspected drug money following a vehicle stop on Monday.

Two Massachusetts men – Carlos Suarez, 44, and Erasmo Colon-Rodriguez, 38 – were pulled over on Route 46 on Monday afternoon because their car was suspected to be involved in drug trafficking, according to NJ.com.


Police said they received consent to search the vehicle and found $44,000 in hidden compartments in the SUV, NJ.com reports. After the stop, police searched the men's hotel room in South Hackensack and found the cocaine, more than $75,000 in cash, a counting machine, and materials for packaging money.

According to NJ.com, they are charged with possession, money laundering, and conspiracy.
