NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One more reason to keep the kids and pets out of the lakes in Central and Prospect Parks.
Toxic algae blooms have been found in the city, 1010 WINS' Drew Scott reported.
This is the same cyanobacteria that's forced the closing of several lakes and beaches in New Jersey.
Experts say the newly-discovered smelly green, blue water could be dangerous to pets and humans.
Vistors say they're staying away from the water for now.
The city parks department and DEP offiials say if your dog gets into the water, rinse them off immediately or even perhaps that them to the vet.
