NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A sprawling winter storm slammed the reigon Saturday, with up to 3 inches expected in the city and even more across the Hudson Valley and western suburbs.
The storm moved in early Saturday afternoon, bringing with it a punch of snow and then sleet and ice for the city Saturday night.
A winter weather advisory has been issued from 10 a.m. on Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday. Gov. Cuomo is urging people to be cautious on roadways, which could be especially slick given the cold temperatures.
A Snow Alert has been issued by the city's Department of Sanitation.
Snow arrived Saturday afternoon before mixing with, then changing to, ice and plain rain along the coast and in the city by evening. The wintry mix is forecast to continue inland.
Expect accumulations of 1-3 inches of snow and sleet before a changeover to rain in and near the city, with as much 3-6 inches with less mixing for the inland Jersey, Hudson Valley and Connecticut suburbs.
As for Sunday, it will be blustery and cold; partly sunny. High 39, Real Feels in the 20's.
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day it will still be cold with sunshine and patchy clouds. High 32.
Don't expect it to warm up for your return to work: It will be risk and very cold but dry, with highs in the upper 20s.
