TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey's marijuana legalization bill is in final form and has been given to lawmakers for review.
A vote on the legislation is expected later this month.
If passed, people in New Jersey would be allowed to possess up to an ounce of weed, and would be allowed to smoke it in their homes and sanctioned lounges. Businesses will also be able to deliver marijuana to customers, although not every business will be granted that privilege.
A regulatory commission would review applications and issue licenses for growers and sellers, but municipalities would be able to ban such businesses -- more than 60 already have. Towns that ban marijuana businesses will not receive any tax revenue from pot.
People with low level marijuana arrests would have their records expunged.
NJ.com reports the bill needs three more votes in the Assembly and six in the Senate.
