CRANFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) – New Jersey health officials are warning people who might have been to a Union County office about a week and a half ago that they may have been exposed to a contagious measles patient.
A New York City resident who was at the AristaCare Health Services corporate office on Birchwood Avenue on May 30, officials say.
Anyone who was there that day is being told to look out for symptoms of the measles and contact a doctor if they don't feel well.
New York health officials have issued a similar warning to anyone who was at Pharmacy Plus in Spring Valley in Rockland County on May 28.
The news comes as measles cases continue to grow in the U.S. There are now more than 1,000 cases across 26 states – a new record since 1992.
The measles virus was eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, but if the outbreak continues into the summer and fall, the nation could be at risk of losing its elimination status.
