MONMOUTH COUNTY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating a report of a possible attempted abduction in Howell, New Jersey.
Police say a 6-year-old girl reported that a man in a black SUV put a bag over her head while she was outside on the Crooked Stick Court in the Adelphia Greens residential development.
The girl explained that she was playing outside with friends and she remained outside to clean up her toys while her friends went inside.
That’s when the male approached and placed a paper bag over her head, police say.
The girl screamed and ran inside.
Officials say she was not injured.
Police describe the man as a white male, approximately 40-years-old with black hair and a beard and a thin build.Police said that "it was reported that the man never tried to grab" the girl.Howell officers were out surveilling the neighborhood and interviewing residents.Police ask neighbors to review security footage and ask anyone with information to contact the police at 732-938-4111.
