TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey's COVID-19 transmission rate is still increasing, Gov. Phil Murphy said Tuesday, after reporting 565 new cases and 24 new deaths.

Murphy reported a transmission rate of 1.14 on Tuesday, up from 1.09 on Monday. Tuesday's new COVID-19 cases and deaths bring the state's case total to 180,295 and its death toll to 13,905, he said.

A total of 718 people in New Jersey are hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 50 of whom are on ventilators, according to the state's COVID-19 tracker.

The state on Tuesday reported 30 new COVID-19 hospitalizations and 37 discharges, Murphy said.

"Both anecdotally, when you're hearing about house parties and other flare-ups that we've seen, (and) when you look at the raw numbers, it's a mixed bag at best," he said. "We're not out of the woods yet, and we need everybody to remain vigilant."
