TRENTON (1010 WINS) – New Jersey reported 487 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths on Saturday.

Gov. Phil Murphy said the total number of cases in the state is now 196,337.

The death toll is up to 14,238, not including 1,789 probable deaths from the virus.

The state's transmission rate dropped slightly from 1.08 on Friday to 1.07.

A transmission rate above 1 indicates that for every infected person, the virus is spreading to at least one other person on average.

The transmission rate has been above 1 for the past week, though it has declined over the last few days.
