TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy reported seven new COVID-19 deaths and 612 new positive test results on Friday after extending the state's public health emergency for another month.
The new fatalities brought the state's death toll to 14,306, Murphy said. All seven people who died passed away between Sept. 14 and Sept. 23, he noted. The state is also investigating 1,791 probable COVID-19 deaths.
As of Thursday, 405 people in New Jersey were hospitalized with confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, 75 of whom were in intensive care and 32 of whom were on ventilators, Murphy said.
The governor also extended the state's public health emergency for an additional 30 days.
"These declarations, unless extended, expire after 30 days," he explained in a tweet. "This means we continue to be vigilant and prepared, and ready to act should there be a new outbreak."
