NJ residential care staffers accused of abusing patient with urine soaked towel

TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Four women who worked at residential care facilities in New Jersey have been accused of some very bad behavior.

Martha Ruiz, 25, of Camden, Kendal Crouch, 24, of Clementon, Karissa-Anne Frannicola, 29, of Caldwell, and Christine Sanford, 31, of Atlantic City were charged in three separate incidents over the last three years, NJ.com reported.

Ruiz and Crouch are accused of hitting a patient in the face, twisting his hand and wrist, forcefully restraining him to a bed, and forcing a urine soaked towel onto the man's face.

They were both charged with conspiracy, neglect of a disabled person, and endangering another person.

Karissa-Anne Frannicola and Christine Sanford

A separate indictment accused Karissa-Anne Frannicola, 29, of using her power of attorney to steal $20,530 from an elderly nursing home resident. She was charged with theft and misapplication of entrusted property.

Sanford is charged with forgery, identity theft, and uttering of false government documents after she allegedly used the identity of another nurse aide to work at the Barnegat Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after her certification was revoked.
