NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Tuesday was the deadline for Mayor de Blasio to name a new head of NYCHA, but the federal government has agreed to grant the city a 45-day extension.
The mayor on NY1 indicated that city hall has been working closely with federal monitors to find a new NYCHA chair and that dozens of candidates had been interviewed.
De Blasio described running NYCHA as like being the mayor of a city of 400,000 people.
Kathryn Garcia remains the interim head of NYCHA until a permanent replacement is chosen.
