NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York state's COVID-19 infection rate stayed below 1 percent for the 11th day in a row on Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday.
Cuomo on Tuesday reported eight new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the state's death toll to 25,264. Of the 66,891 COVID-19 test results that came back on Monday, 655, or 0.98 percent, were positive, he said.
One of the eight people who passed away died in the Bronx; one died in Broome County; one died in Montgomery County; three died in Queens; one died in Suffolk County; and one died out of state.
As of Monday, 537 people in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19, 126 of whom were in intensive care units and 60 of whom were on ventilators, Cuomo said.
The governor also added two states, Alaska and Delaware, to New York's travel advisory, which requires travelers returning from high-risk states to self-quarantine for 14 days.
"New York state is moving forward in the face of a continuing crisis throughout the nation and around the world — we've gone from one of the nation's worst infection rates to one of its best and have an infection rate below 1 percent for the 11th day straight — but that's no excuse for getting complacent as we add two more states to our travel advisory," he said in a statement.
"We continue to move in the right direction, but it's up to all of us to slow the spread and stay safe," he added.
