NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York state voters will now be able to return their absentee ballots to drop boxes at their local Board of Elections offices, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday.
Cuomo on Tuesday signed an executive order that will allow voters to return their ballots to secure boxes at more than 300 locations across the state “without a wait,” he said.
Registered voters can start dropping off ballots at Board of Elections offices effective immediately, the governor said. They will also be able to drop ballots off at Early Voting sites from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1, or at polling sites on Election Day, which falls on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
In August, Cuomo signed a package of legislation that allows all registered New York state residents to vote by absentee ballot due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Voters can apply for an absentee ballot on the New York State Board of Elections website.
