
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio held a daily coronavirus briefing on Monday as the city enters Phase 2 of the reopening.
The mayor announced that the city will be distributing four million face coverings, with the first two million already provided for businesses.
In Phase 2, restaurants are allowed to have outside dining and de Blasio said there had been 3,192 applications submitted since Friday for New York City restaurants to create outdoor dining spaces.
When asked if he and First Lady Chirlane would be dining outside for dinner, he replied, "we will eat out tonight, we just haven’t decided where yet."
He also reported that on Thursday, subway ridership rose 29 percent from just two weeks earlier, while bus ridership was up 22 percent.
Ridership on the Staten Island Ferry ridership increased 31percent.
De Blasio also reported that traffic into Manhattan on Thursday was up 24 percent on East River Bridges, and up 10 percent on Harlem River Bridges, compared to just two weeks earlier.
The mayor also reported that according to daily indicators, there were 56 suspected coronavirus cases in hospital admissions and 326 current ICU patients.
Only two percent of NYC residents tested positive, he added.
According to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, of the 56,780 tests performed Sunday, 552 tests came back positive (0.98 percent of total).
Total hospitalizations fell to 1,122. and 10 fatalities statewide Sunday.
