Off-duty NYPD officer, reportedly on COVID-19 response team, killed in Queens motorcycle collision

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An off-duty NYPD officer died Saturday after he was rear-ended while riding a motorcycle in Queens.

Sources told 1010 WINS the officer was struck by a BMW just before 6 p.m. and that the lone driver remained at the scene.

That driver was questioned and had not been charged as of early Sunday.

Citizen App video shows a blue BMW with heavy front-end damage and a destroyed motorcycle on the Cross Island Parkway near Bell Boulevard in Bay Terrace.

The officer, who has not been identified, died at an area hospital.

The officer was assigned to the COVID-19 Response Team and was on his way to work at the time, according to the New York Post.
