NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- After 71 years and countless star-studded movie premieres, the iconic Paris Theatre has shuttered its doors.
"Unfortunately, our lease has ended and the Paris Theatre is now closed," reads a "Notice of Closure" posted on the theater's door. "We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all our guests over the years. Thank you for your patronage, and we regret that we cannot continue to serve you. Sincerely, Cinema Management."
Buzz began building in June that the legendary venue's days were numbered.
Over the past year, it hosted premieres for "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel."
Located across from the Plaza Hotel on West 58th Street and Fifth Avenue, the Paris Theater opened its doors in 1948, with Marlene Dietrich cutting the ribbon.
The Paris Theatre closed briefly in 1990 due to disputes about the rent, but reopened.
