NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are investigating after two city workers say they were shot by a pellet-gun sniper at a housing development in lower Manhattan Saturday.

A NYCHA worker and Sanitation Department worker were both struck. Neither was seriously hurt, but the pellet shooting has unnerved them and residents.

The two workers were shot just before 10 a.m. at the Samuel Gompers Houses near Pitt and Rivington streets, according to police.

“Basically a sniper was hiding in the window over there,” the sanitation worker told the Daily News. “He was taking potshots at us and that was it.”

The sanitation worker says he was shot on the back of his head. He says it caused swelling.

It’s unclear where the NYCHA worker was shot. Both workers refused medical attention.

Police are now searching for the pellet-gun sniper.

One resident told the Daily News: “I feel scared, anyone would feel scared.”
