Precipitation ends as snow Tuesday night, with a coating to an inch in and around the city and up to 3 inches in some New Jersey and Hudson Valley suburbs, according to AccuWeather.

Areas of black ice are expected to develop late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will drop through the 20s during this time, causing residual moisture on untreated surfaces to freeze.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution while traveling early Wednesday morning.

AccuWeather says snow showers continue Wednesday and that a heavier squall could quickly coat the ground early Wednesday afternoon.

AccuWeather says the dangerous cold continues into Thursday, when it will be windy and frigid despite sunny skies. The high will be just 16 degrees but it will feel more like 10 to 20 below throughout the day.

Temps climb a bit to the low 20s on Friday. It’s brisk but not as cold, according to AccuWeather.
