YONKERS, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Police in Yonkers are searching for a 15-year-old male in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old woman.
Jamir Thompson, an eigth-grader, was named as a suspect in the death of Marilyn Cotto Montanez.
"We are considering you armed and dangerous," Yonkers police commissioner Charles Gardner said at a press conference, directing his words at Thompson. "We are out looking for you as we speak and for the safety of everyone, I urge you to turn yourself in."
Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Montanez was walking last Thursday with her nine-year-old sister when police say she was caught in the crossfire.
"The investigation indicates that earlier in the day Thompson had robbed a gold chain from another male – which resulted in this dispute," Gardner explained.
