Cops say Arthur Martunovich, 34, struck just after 5 p.m. on January 15, attacking patrons and staff at Seaport Buffet with a hammer.

Chef Fufai Pun, 34, was killed at the scene. Manager Tsz Mat Pung, 50, and owner Kheong Ng-Thang, 60, were taken to NYU in critical condition.

Ng-Thang died just days after the attack. Officials say Pung died on Thursday.

Martunovich was picked up just blocks away from the scene. He faces murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges, but has been hospitalized in the psychiatric ward at Kings County Hospital. Statements he made at the time of his arrest indicate that he may be emotionally disturbed.

Authorities suspect Martunovich may have specifically targeted Asian victims. They don't believe he had a connection to the restaurant.

Martunovich has been investigated in connection with a 2016 incident, but never charged. He was the victim of alleged assaults in 2016 and 2004.
