Police search for woman who allegedly punched 70-year-old victim inside UES church

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are looking for a woman who they say randomly assaulted a 70-year-old while inside an Upper East Side church.

The parishioner was assaulted on March 26, 2019 before 10 a.m. while praying inside St. Monica's Church located at 413 East 79 Street.

According to police, the suspect walked into the church, yelled "Shut up" and then punched the victim in the face before fleeing. Authorities believe the suspect frequents the area and is possibly known as Annie.  

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
