Police shoot knife-wielding man in the East Village: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police shot and wounded a man with a knife in lower Manhattan on Thursday morning.

The officers responded to a 911 call about a man with a knife at Third Avenue and East 10th Street in the East Village around 6:40 a.m., police said.


When they arrived, they confronted the man, and at least one officer fired.

The man who was shot was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

At least two officers were taken to a hospital for ringing in their ears.

The shooting comes hours after a man was shot and critically injured by police in Brooklyn.

The NYPD said that man had stabbed an officer in the neck with a knife and that two other officers were shot during the "unprovoked attack."
