NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Sausage shipped across the state is being recalled because it could contain plastic pieces.
In all, 1,092 pounds of the pork sausage are being recalled by Illinois-based company Ashland Sausage.
The product—Heritage Berkshire natural casing sausage—comes in 12-ounce packages with the lot number "S318" and establishment number "EST. 21549."
The product was shipped to retail locations across New York and Illinois.
The Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued the recall Friday after a customer said they found two hard and dark plastic pieces inside their sausage.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported.
The FSIS is urging people to not consume the sausages and to throw them away or return them to their place of purchase.
More on the recall can be found on the USDA's website here.
