NEW YORK (1010 WINS/AP) — A group of riders enjoyed a surprise "friendsgiving" while riding on the L train.

Video footage shows riders standing around a white-clothed table covered with plates of turkey, mashed potatoes and cornbread in the middle of a Brooklyn-bound L train on Sunday.

Instagram user Mandy Ansari captured someof the action.

Stand-up comedian Jodell "Joe Show" Lewis told the New York Post he organized the Thanksgiving dinner in order to "bring a little excitement to commuters and feed any New Yorkers who might be hungry.

"Everybody get their plates, sit down and eat" you can hear one rider yell out.

According to Lewis he chose to organize this dinner on the L train after he saw how “dreary and upset” riders were at the inconvenience of a construction project that has cut service during weekends.
