NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Rikers Island inmate who tried to escape the jail last week made a second attempt on Sunday morning but was captured again.

The inmate was apprehended after he scaled a facility wall at the jail around 9 a.m., sources told 1010 WINS.

He was taken into custody about 30 minutes after climbing to the roof of the closed facility.

Sources believe an emergency services unit apprehended him.

On Thursday, police said they captured the 37-year-old inmate after he climbed a recreation yard fence and entered the water surrounding the island.
