NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – You call this January?! Record warmth broke records this weekend, with temperatures well into the 60s just a couple weeks after winter officially began.
The record-setting temps are more than 30 degrees above the average for this time of year, AccuWeather says.
Saturday was breezy and unseasonably warm. The high in the city reached 69—breaking a record of 63 in Central Park set back in 1975.
Sunday also broke a record high. It was 67 degrees by 9 a.m., shattering a record of 66 degrees set in 2017.
Temps will begin to drop after a warm Sunday morning. Lows will fall into the mid-30s by Sunday night.
It’s much cooler on Monday and Tuesday. Highs will only reach the upper 40s—still well above the early January average high of 28 degrees.
