NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — E-scooters and e-bikes are currently against the law, but they may not be for long.
An aide to New York Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins says the state legislature has reached an agreement on a bill to legalize them.
A vote is expected tomorrow.
Provisions include a ban on e-scooter sharing systems in Manhattan and barring riders under 16 years old.
The agreement represents a win for delivery workers in the city who rely on these conveyances, but it would also prohibit all e-bikes and e-scooters from greenways, including the popular one on the Hudson River.
